Former Springbok flyhalf Pat Lambie joins Harry Jones on the Lekker Rugby Pod for a reflective conversation about his career in the green and gold.
Lambie looks back on unforgettable moments in a Springbok jersey, including his famous try against Australia at Newlands and the heartbreak of the 2011 Rugby World Cup quarterfinal. He shares insights into playing under Heyneke Meyer, how elite flyhalves read the game, the mental side of Test rugby, and what life looks like after his playing career.
Now working in property development on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast, Lambie reflects on rugby, leadership, and the moments that still stay with him years after leaving the field.
A thoughtful conversation with one of South Africa’s most respected playmakers.

Pat would be a great CEO of a rugby franchise – I hope he stays involved in rugby.
Fantastic player & ambassador for Springbok, KZN Sharks & Rugby in general. Big fan of Pat!!!
In spite of his career tragically and unnecessary terminated, he figures amongst the best of the best in áll respects, true character, talented, balanced…Enjoýed his exciting constructional intelligent style..( me Blue Bull following rugby since long before TV..Noord Transvaal !!.)Was at Loftus when Mac and Tony Watson broke out hearts the 1st time..yet thát is one of most beautiful tries ever ..
Exemplary enlightening conversation..
I was a Rocking the Daisies event and we watched the 2011 WC QF on a big screen … the one that got away
Loved Pat when he played. What a gent. Sacha would do well to learn from his experience and level head.
Brilliant conversation! Well done!
Excellent interview by both Harry and Patrick! He was truly robbed of a long Springbok career! Very good to see him making a successful career out of the setback! Very proud
With all do respect the kid was just too soft for test rugby
At my house we used to shout, Patrick Lamborghini! Everytime he got the ball, such an electric player. Great to see Pat thriving in his new chapter and accepting his rugby fate with such grace. Legend!
Lekker show again. Great to see Mr Lambie again.
Intelligent lad, with good manners. Nice.
Heyneke meyer hated skills
Lovely guy. Met his primary school teacher in Ireland, who told me he had an older brother with additional needs, who he was so protective of. What a guy I thought.
Never met a Springbok fan who didn’t like Pat.An absolute tragedy that he couldn’t play more tests.
